What did you do?
Me and my boyfriend at the time, Jonas, had just come home to his parents house when his mom came running out "Come look- they have bombed USA". His parents were puting glass around their porch, so we had borrowed a small truck and drove to them with some windows. Then we watched it on tv all night.
That was my September 11th 2001. What did you do?

I was at work in the financial aid office at Purdue when I heard people talking in the hallway saying the White House had been evacuated, then I tried to get online to find out what was happening, but all the major news sites like CNN were jammed with people trying to access them and I couldn't get on. I finally found out about it on the website of the local news station. As soon as I got off work I went to my apartment so I could watch TV. After that I attended a prayer service at St. Tom's - the Catholic church at Purdue. There was nothing planned for the service. Some people started singing spontaneously, but mostly it was very quiet as the bell of the church tolled steadily. The bell was very calming and the church felt safe. During all this, I was skipping class, but had to go to my next one where I had a very difficult French exam - my score was not very good. That afternoon, at marching band practice, our director was very out of sorts and we rehearsed a couple of patriotic songs for the next football game. While we were outside we saw a few planes fly overhead, which was very eerie, since we knew that all planes had been grounded. We later found out that the planes were Air Force One carrying the president and its fighter jet escorts.
Wow. And I guess youll never forget that day either. So how was China?
