Arvingarna

Now, I know you have no idea who that is either. But I'm hopefully meeting them Friday! They are a dance band who was really, really, really popular when I grew up. My idols back then! And Friday theire coming here for a gig. That's what I love about journalism. Today I'm writing an article about mopeds and Friday and next Tuesday I'm meeting popular artists. Tuesday, Katie goes to Tokyo.

My boyfriend and my sister...

both have big things going on in their lives. Syrran (sis) Erika is going to Miami for a one-year internship. She's going to be a economic assistant (or something like that) at Starship Cruises (or something like that.) She leaves Wednesday and is gone for a whole year!!! Good thing we're going over there then, huh? One year is a loooong time...

Snutte, on the other hand, has a new job now. Everything is set. Monday he starts. Now he's not going to be a farm hand (thanks Ryan!) anymore. He going to clean cars. Toyota center is his new work place. I think his job is called recon. (Don't you just love how I really know what I'm talking about? :)

Me, still going strong. Today: 14 hours of work... five and a half to go!!!

29 januari 2006

one more hour...

until I get to go home. And in nine more hours, I have to be back here to work another day. I work 8am-5pm and then 6pm- midnight. How come I haven't learned to say no to work yet?

If everythins goes according to plan, Snutte has a new job next week. But more about that later...

Lindy hop

That's the name of the dance I learned today. Lindy hop. It was so much fun! Sadly enough, Snutte did not want to join me, so I won't be able to have another dance show when I come to Indiana. It's hard to do by myself. But so much fun!

Now: work for about two more hours.

28 januari 2006

I am home and they are there

Finally home again after one hour at the gym, ten hours at work and one hour at Tea's birthday party. Josse and He-Man are finally where they are supposed to be too. They had seen 22 semi trucks in a row when they were on their way from the airport. Snutte is jealous... :)

He-Man and Josse

He-Man and Josse, two of our best friends (He-Man is of course his nick name) are leaving Sweden today for a weeks vacation in the Alps. I can't remember which country, maybe France? Anyway, their plane is delayed at Arlanda Airport and they are currently four hours late. She updates me with little messages. But I really hope they get to go skiing today like they planned!

This is them as they look ordinarily. That's not a costume, He-Man is a fire fighter and last year me and Josse got to ride with him in that "sky-lift" they have. That was cool!

This is them in costumes. We went to a masquerade where we were supposed to dress up as famous couples and I hope you all see who they are supposed to be! Me and Snutte dressed up as Aragorn and Arwen from Lord of the rings. But pictures of that will be posted later... :)

Jim Carrey and Heath Ledger

They are the two main reasons why we had so many people last night. Fun with Dick and Jane & Casanova. The other movies we have right now are Match Point, King Kong and four Swedish movies: Storm, Mastermind, Varannan vecka and Lilla Jönsonligan och stjärnkuppen.

Since today is Saturday we also show some kids movies: Charlie and the chocolate factory, Harry Potter, Narnia and Pettson och Findus.

27 januari 2006

13 ½ hours work finally over!

It has been a loooooong Friday. How come everybody has to go to the movies when I work? But I am not complaing! If nobody came, I would be whining about that...

Goodnight!!!!

Interesting lunch

At this news paper, you never know what might happend. One of my favorite people here, who I happend to eat lunch with today, turns out to be cousin with Roger Pontare!
I know you Americans have no idea who he is, but he's a very famous singer here in Sweden. Mostly because of his fabolous voice and his exentric clothes. Folow the link and you'll understand what I mean.
But the most interesting thing turned out to be that one of the ther reporters kept little notes of what we were talking about because he's going to write a column about stuff that girl talk about during lunch. Oh well...

Only four and a half more hours until I quit and get to go to my other job... :)

Slow Friday

Are always Fridays this slow? All I have to do today is finish four articles. The interwievs are made, all I have to do is write it. But my mind is moving slowly...

Todays Swedish lesson: Trött = tired!

Getting a tan...

Yesterday, before the water aerobics, I decided to start working on my tan. I really don't wanna look like a ghost for Mandy and Doug's wedding and since the chances for sun here before April is really slim, I have to fake it. Oh well... And as you know, I never get tan. My goal is off-white.

The day started with one hour at the gym. How ambitious am I? But I think it's a really good start. And since I work all weekend, I won't have my time for anything else. Here is what my weekend will look like:

Friday evening: work
Saturday: work until 9.30 pm, that one of my friends is having a birthday party
Sunday: dance class between 10am and 4 pm, then work between 6pm and midnight

Oh well...

Today, Snutte will find out if he gets the new job or not. I hope so!

26 januari 2006

Already Thursday

I am surprised how fast these weeks are going. Tomorrow's Friday and the last day of my second week of five. Look at time flying by... Today I'm staying infront of my computer for most of the day, writing the articles from yesterday. I'm still tired from the long drive.

The snow is almost melting today. Where is my cold white winter?

Snutte has his second interwiev for a new job today. Keep your fingers crossed!

25 januari 2006

Vuoggatjålme

That's where I have been today. Me and photographer Roine left 7 am and came back 7 pm. Long hard day. But we met the wonderful people who live and work at Vuoggatjålme. I'm writing a long article about them and their cold record. They have had the coldest temperature ever messured in Sweden. Today it wasn't that cold, just a little windy.

24 januari 2006

Timewind

A sweeping motion
In the lunar ocean
Silently lures,
To change the universe
I's a wind that will last,
Transforming present to past
Life's abounding mysteries
Turn to fading memories

Isn't that just beautiful? But don't for a second think that I can't write anything like that. It is a song text from the guy I have been interwieving today. Andreas Hedlund or Mr. V or Vintersorg. Poetic...

Friends are back!

The best news right now has to be that Friends are back! Even though it is for only four more episodes, and even though it will never be as good as the original show. But still. Big smiles... I can't even feel the pain in my back right now!!! :)

Everybody hurts...

... sometimes. And today it's my turn. My back is killing me! Yesterday, I went to "core-practice". That means that you only exercise the core of your body, which is your back and stomach. And maybe I didn't strech enough or maybe I'm just really weak but my back hurts today!!!

Tonight Snutte comes home. :)

23 januari 2006

In case you haven't noticed...

... I am really bored. Not bored, really, more blank. I don't think my mind is working the way it's supposed to. I have one easy article to write today and I can't do it! I can not think! Maybe I should take a short walk... Almost time for coffee break, maybe that'll do it...

92 years old!

I just met the coolest old lady ever! She was 92 and is working at this place where they fix people's furnisher and makes rugs and stuff to sell. She was making rugs and when we asked her why she did that and no one else she said: "Beacuse no one else has got the strength!" I mean how cool isn't that? :)

Svenska: Jag träffade just den coolaste lilla tanten nånsin. Hon vävde mattor på Missionsboden, idéelt arbete för Missionen. När vi frågade varför ingen annan vävde mattor sa hon att ingen annan orkade, att det var för tungt för dom. Hur coolt är inte det? :)

Monday morning...

... again. One week done at the news paper, four more to go. Wednesday I'm going to Vouggatjålme, a small place almost on the border to Norway. 40 years ago, they had the coldest temperature ever in Sweden. I'm writing an article about that. let's just hope it's not that cold then...

Snutte leaves today to drive up to Saxnäs. That's where his school is. He's taking classes to become a bus driver. But, thankfully, he'll be home tomorrow again.

Todays Swedish lesson: Vintersorg = freely translated to Winter sorrow. A very poetic name for a band from Skellefteå.

22 januari 2006

69 more days...

...until I can sing "Back home again in Indiana" and really mean it! :)

In case anyone wanted to know!

no, not really...

Those links did not turn out the way I wanted to... What about this? Is this the way to do it? I think so! :)

One hour at the gym. One hour infront of the computer writing the report. And one hour reading a book for my exam paper. I have been really good today! So good that I deserve a long, hot bath that I'm planning on taking.

This evening I have to take Snutte to see a woman who lives by my parents who can fix his hurting back. And that's all for now kids! :)

One more thing...

Just one more thing. I should try to post links. So here are som links to some of the articles I wrote this week. I realize that most of you who are reading this won't be able to read them, but you could always look at the pictures... :)

This was fun!

Hej! This was fun! But let's see how long I think it is fun...

Just trying to see how this works... What about posting a picture... Can I do that? .......................................

Obviously, I can do anything! :) The picture is me and Snutte at a birthday party last year. One of his friends turned 40.

Got to go back to the report... boring!

Maybe...

...I should try. Maybe I can keep my own blogg and actually try to update it. I mean, I do read others, why shouldn't I write my own???

Snutte is working today. He works as a "farm hand" (is that really the right English word?) The Swedish word is dräng and means that he helps a farmer with his cows. He feeds them, helps to milk them and generally just takes care of them. Sadly, Snutte has to work every other weekend and one of his weekends off, I work. So we have one weekend together every month. So this day I am home alone.

I have to start my "internship-project". We have to write a report about our internship days. What we learn and what we do. And since I don't have time to do it during the weeks, I have to do it during weekends. That sucks. Oh well... I had a wonderful first week. I wrote articles about civil marriages, cat plauge, the extrem cold and a girl who makes her own jewelery. What a varying job I will have! :)
